Kamilia Sofia, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Dubai Aerospace Enterprise Services

Kamilia Sofia has a proven record of building and driving organisations and increasing financial, operational and market success.

Prior to joining Dubai Aerospace Enterprise in November 2006, Sofia worked for global aerospace and defense simulation and training organisation CAE. As Vice President of Strategy, she evaluated the competitiveness of the market, recommended strategies for simulation and training markets, as well as leading technological innovation internally and externally through acquisition, resulting in new opportunities for the company.

Sofia previously worked in other areas at CAE over a period of 22 years. She was Vice President of Integrated Solutions, Civil Simulation and Training Division, where she had P&L responsibilities for the development of Simfinity Product line, her brain child; a simulation e-learning training system used by airlines and aircraft manufacturers, now considered a key differentiator for the company.

As Director of Programme Management in the Commercial Division, Sofia was accountable for a $0.5B international business with a team of over 200 people, overseeing technical, scheduling, financial and contractual performance through all project phases.

Prior to these roles, Sofia held a number of engineering and programme management leadership positions, in nuclear and flight product lines at CAE.

Sofia was recognised as one of Canada’s Top 100 Business Women in 2005. She holds a PhD and MSc in Nuclear Physics from McGill University and is also involved in the International Women’s Forum and Women in Aviation.
